TPRC 2008 Poster Session Guidelines

A poster is a 30" x 48" flat presentation surface that the author fills with printed matter. The author then stands by the poster and discusses the work with those who come by or inquire. Poster sessions are extremely common in technical conferences, and provide a way both to include additional works and increase interpersonal interaction.

A poster can be either one printed work or a presentation.

A poster is the presentation of a single printed work on one 30" x 48" poster board. A poster is primarily a non-verbal presentation, but the authors stays with the poster to answer questions and engage with the individual. The author is responsible for bringing the printed material.

One way to develop a poster is to implement a single integrated piece of work, printed as one 30" x 48" or roughly equivalent piece of metric paper. An example of a single poster can be found at http://www.ljean.com/files/i3pPosterStroman.pdf In this case the single large-scale document in pdf is the electronic poster.

An alternative is to print a presentation and then attach each of the individual slides in order on the poster board. This requires between 12 and 16 individual slides. The electronic poster would be a pdf of that presentation. Again, the author is responsible for bringing and posting the printed material.

In either case the printer material can be uploaded as a pdf, and that pdf is the electronic poster. In both cases the author is responsible for bringing the printer artifact to the conference.

TPRC will provide a 30" x48" poster board, tape or thumbtacks to attach the poster board, and a poster stand. The author needs to upload the electronic poster at the submission site by August 15th. The author is also to bring the printer material to physically post at the event and attend the poster session. TPRC will NOT print your poster.

Thank you again for your participation.
